What is the Visual Keyboard Tester?
The Visual Keyboard Tester shows a virtual keyboard on your screen. When you press a physical key, the matching key on the virtual layout lights up. This makes it easy to spot keys that aren’t registering, keys that register inconsistently, or keys that appear stuck in the pressed position.
It’s the quickest way to diagnose a keyboard problem without needing to open any settings panels or install software.
How to Test Your Keyboard
- Click anywhere on the page to make sure the testing area is focused.
- Press keys one by one across your keyboard.
- Watch the virtual keyboard — the pressed key should light up immediately.
- Test modifiers — press Shift, Ctrl, Alt, and any function keys individually.
- Check the history log — the recent key log at the bottom captures fast keystrokes you may have pressed too quickly to see in the visual display.

After a spill — if you’ve spilled liquid on a keyboard, press every key systematically to identify which ones have been affected before deciding whether to repair or replace it.
