What is a Loan EMI Calculator?

A loan EMI calculator works out the fixed monthly payment — the Equated Monthly Installment — for any loan based on the amount borrowed, the annual interest rate, and the repayment period. Alongside the monthly figure it shows the total interest you will pay over the life of the loan and the total amount repaid. Every number is computed instantly in your browser, so you can compare scenarios freely and privately.

How to Use

  1. Enter the loan amount (principal).
  2. Enter the annual interest rate as a percentage.
  3. Enter the loan tenure in months or years.
  4. Read your monthly EMI, total interest, and total payment as they update.

Use Cases

An EMI calculator is essential whenever you are considering borrowing. Use it before taking a personal loan, car loan, or consumer-durable loan to check whether the monthly payment fits your budget. Compare different tenures to see how a longer term lowers the monthly payment but raises total interest. Test different interest rates when shopping between lenders, and understand the true cost of borrowing before you commit.

Why Use This

Loan decisions are financial commitments that last years, so it pays to model them carefully. This calculator gives you an immediate, accurate breakdown without a bank visit or a spreadsheet, and because it runs entirely on your device, your financial situation stays confidential. Adjust any input and watch every figure recalculate in real time.

How EMI Works

Each EMI is split between interest and principal. Early in the loan, a larger share of every payment goes toward interest because the outstanding balance is high. As you pay down the principal, the interest portion shrinks and more of each installment reduces the balance. This is the reducing-balance method used by most lenders. The total interest figure the calculator shows is the sum of all those interest portions across the full term, which is why a longer tenure — despite a smaller monthly payment — usually costs more overall.
